Do you want your product being sold on Vinted?
Earlier this month it was announced that eBay were cutting their selling fees and we wanted to know what people thought to this news.
So many of you commented on the how you felt it was in a reaction to other selling platforms which currently hold the attention of younger shoppers.
And you’re probably not wrong. eBay, once the leader in the space are potentially wanting to claw back some of the custom.
It’s great eBay are making changes. And it’s even better that customer are shopping into a circular economy.
But, as an independence brand….do you want to see your product being sold on Vinted?
Are you okay with that?
What will that do to your brand?
How do feel when you see a brand in TKMaxx?
Yes, it’s great that eBay are trying to make what they do EVEN BETTER. But what are independent retailers doing to support the circular economy?
Do you really want your solution to be “they will sell them on Vinted”?
Because guess what….they will also be BUYING on Vinted too.
As a product based business, would you not rather encourage your customer to re-spend back into your brand??
4 of the brands we’re currently supporting are running their own initiative to support sustainable shopping. An example this week is exactly the reason brands should be considering their options.
This particular store has a tied take-back program…meaning the more you bring back, the higher the % you can receive off a new item. The customer brought back 4+ items which gave her 25% off her shopping, and she bought one item.
The 25% discount will not even come close to the profit which will be gained from reselling the 4+ items that the customer bought back.
The wins…
1. Your business is supporting the circular economy.
2. Your are avoiding any potential brand damage by others selling your independent brand on a second had platform.
3. You are incentivising and encouraging your shopper to re-shop with you.
4. And…you are earning an additional profit from items you have already sold before.
Let’s start talking about how you can do both… support sustainable shopping AND encourage returning customers.
And let’s leave Vinted to work its magic with the high street brands instead.
